Speaker Topics
1. Technology in
the World Language Classroom
Looking for some ideas to spruce up the regular routine? Multimedia can
help! From PowerPoint to DVD Read-Alongs to Internet resources, there's
a wealth of possibilities available for language classes today. Join us
in this workshop as we explore some terrific ideas of incorporating various
multimedia into our classes while we add an appealing level of comprehensible
input to our classes. A TPRS friendly workshop.
2. The Power of PowerPoint
20 ideas for using PowerPoint in the classroom and specific techniques
for building useful presentations.
3. TPRS for the Extremely
Skeptical
Can students really learn another language through listening to stories?
Is TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) a valid
methodology or is it merely another educational fad that will soon pass
away? If you are skeptical about this method and wonder if the research
supports it, you need to see these facts and test results that might just
change your mind, and your classes, forever.
4. TPRS for the Curious
Do your students memorize vocabulary for the test and then instantly forget
it? Do they struggle through short reading passages? Do they resist actually
talking in the language? Have you heard about TPRS but wonder what it
is really all about? The heart of TPRS is learning how to "ask"
a story. Join us for a demonstration. For complete beginners.
5. TPR Adds Spice
TPR is more than merely
stand up and sit down. Find out how this can become a valuable tool for
any language teacher's teaching toolbox.
6. 3 Levels + 1 Room
= A Successful Learning Environment for All
Are you teaching in a small school? Are you expected to teach a multi-level
class with no extra prep time? Wouldn't you like to teach the same basic
thing to everyone and yet have significant growth from all levels? In
this session, you will see how the TPRS method can be applied effectively
to make a successful multi-level classroom.
7. Alice Leaves Wonderland
3-D animation videos can add spark to a language program. In this session
you will
be introduced to Alice, a 3-D animation program that both you and your
students
can use to make their own animated skits and videos. Alice is very user-friendly
so
even a Mad Hatter can easily make animations with it..
